November 19 through December 13
Holiday Card Writing Campaign
The Alliance is once again inviting community members to spread holiday cheer by writing personalized cards to elderly neighbors living in assisted care facilities. We call our volunteers card-writing elves—and you can join them in brightening someone’s day!
As a card-writing elf, you’ll be assigned 8 to 13 residents, along with a fun fact about each one, to help you personalize your messages. We ask our elves to provide the holiday cards and write the heartfelt messages, and we’ll take care of the rest.
Key Dates:
-
Sign-up Deadline: December 9
-
Card Submission Deadline: December 13
We’ll take care of sorting and delivering the cards to the facilities.
Important Information:
-
Detailed instructions and resident assignments will be emailed to volunteers within 1–2 days of submitting the Elf Duty Sign-Up form.
-
If you don’t see your assignment in your inbox, please check your spam or junk folder. If you still need help, don’t hesitate to contact us, and we’ll gladly send you your assignment details.
Help us spread joy, hope, and love this holiday season by showing our elderly neighbors how much others care. Together, we can make this season a little brighter for those who may need it most.
If you have any questions, please email us at alliance.greatergood@gmail.com.
Sign Up is Closed
We have closed Elf Sign Up as the cards are due back soon. However, there is still time to make cards at the Portsmouth Historical Society's Gingerbread House Contest.
Gingerbread House Contest
You can also create holiday cards for assisted living residents while attending the Portsmouth Historical Society’s Gingerbread House Contest. All supplies will be provided. The final card pickup is on December 13th.
Thank you for spreading holiday cheer this year!
